Pinterest and Instagram might have told you that you need an interactive food station to make your wedding unique and memorable. Spoiler alert - your wedding is unique because you’re unique, and people remember it if they have fun, eat and drink well, and spend time with people they love. Your beautifully styled and personalised evening food station won’t make or break it, and by the end of the night it could even go overlooked.
Circulated Evening Food
In my opinion, the best kind of evening food is the kind that doesn’t take your guests away from the party. Picture this; your band has got everyone into the groove, they’ve had a cocktail and they’re partying the night away. Your best man gets on the microphone and everything stops abruptly… “make your way to the evening food station”. Next thing you know, your guests are queueing for evening food, and the dance floor is empty. So, that’s where circulated evening food wins for me! Food brought to your guests, so they don’t have to step foot off the dance floor. We don’t mind dodging a few grooving guests to bring food to you.
Evening Street Food
Circulated and street food go hand-in-hand, quite literally! Street food is designed to be enjoyed on the move, without plates, cutlery or having to find a seat. Our evening food menu is brimming with street food inspired delights. Zingy tacos, gourmet hot dogs, pulled pork sliders with BBQ sauce.
Hand-held Evening Food
Although we know it’s tempting to want a real hearty portion when it comes to evening food, we advise hand-held size portions. Yes, you want to deliver that comforting salty and indulgent snack, but you don’t want your guests ready for a nap! Big portions can leave you feeling a little sluggish, so I love to recommend smaller hand-held items for your evening snack. Something quick, delicious and easy to eat is a winner.
Fun Evening Food Ideas
Don’t get me wrong, I still think evening food can be fun! Whether that’s delivered through exciting flavours, nostalgia or serve-ware, you can keep your evening food on theme without going overboard. We have a section in our menu we’ve called ‘Shake & Snack’ which is a great way to pick guests up half way through the evening. A fun hand-held snack paired with a short cocktail. Tacos & Margs, Sliders & Manhattans or Fries & Martinis. Simple and classic combos without fuss, delivered to your guests while they party the night away.
All I’m saying is don’t overthink things, as you might risk altering the atmosphere of your evening reception. Simple food, enjoyed while standing, without queueing.
